Ingredients
Ground Turkey 1 lb (450g)
Sweet Italian Sausage (chicken-based) 1 lb (450g)
Canned Tomatoes 28 oz (800g)
Italian-Style Noodles 8 oz (225g)
Mozzarella Cheese 1 1/2 cups
Tomato Paste 2 tbsp
Garlic 3 cloves
Onion 1 medium
Italian Seasoning 1 tbsp
Bay Leaf 1
Instructions
Cook noodles in salted water 2 minutes less than package instructions
Mince garlic; finely chop onion
Reduce 1 cup tomatoes in a small pot over medium heat 5 minutes
Heat oil in a Dutch oven until shimmering
Add turkey; cook 5 minutes breaking into small bits
Remove turkey; repeat with sausage, cooking 6 minutes
Add onion and garlic; sauté 3 minutes until softened
Pour in reduced tomato base, remaining tomatoes, tomato paste, and Italian seasoning
Add cooked turkey and sausage; simmer 15 minutes
Stir in cooked noodles and mozzarella; cook 5-7 minutes until cheese melts
Remove bay leaf before serving
Notes
For gluten-free: Use gluten-free noodles and oil-free cooking
Vegetarian option: Replace turkey and sausage with 1 cup cooked lentils
Let rest 10 minutes for thicker sauce
Top with fresh parsley before serving
