Description
A vibrant Italian salad highlighting fresh mozzarella, ripe tomatoes, and basil, drizzled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Perfect for summer, this easy, elegant dish celebrates the natural flavors of seasonal ingredients.
Ingredients
1 ball (8 oz) Burrata mozzarella (use regular mozzarella if unavailable)
2 large or 8 medium ripe tomatoes
2 cups fresh basil leaves (use cilantro or arugula as substitutes)
3–4 tbsp olive oil (first cold press preferred)
1–2 tbsp gluten-free balsamic vinegar (use pomegranate molasses or honey as substitute)
Instructions
Wash and dry basil leaves thoroughly
Cut tomatoes into 1/2-inch thick slices
If using Burrata, keep intact or gently open to preserve soft interior
Arrange mozzarella slices on a platter
Alternate tomato slices between mozzarella layers
Tuck basil leaves between cheese-tomato layers
Sprinkle flaky sea salt over each mozzarella slice
Drizzle olive oil evenly, focusing on mozzarella
Finish with balsamic vinegar in strategic bursts
Notes
Use room-temperature cheese for optimal creaminess
Chill assembled salad for 30 minutes to prevent moisture pooling
Balsamic vinegar enhances acidity; adjust quantity to taste
Cherry tomatoes add extra sweetness if substituted
Herb alternatives work best with ripe, juicy tomatoes
