Ingredients
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup cold unsalted butter or halal ghee
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs (room temperature)
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups chopped semisweet chocolate (high-cocoa dark chocolate)
Instructions
Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl
Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy
Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract
Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients until just combined
Fold in chocolate chunks using a silicone spatula
Chill dough in an airtight container for 30+ minutes
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper
Scoop 1.5-inch balls of dough (3-4 tbsp each), spacing 2 inches apart
Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden
Let cool 3-4 minutes on the sheet before transferring to a wire rack
Notes
Use halal ghee instead of butter for halal dietary requirements
Spoon brown sugar into measurement cups to avoid overpacking
Parchment paper prevents over-browning
Rotate baking sheets halfway through baking for even browning
Cookies continue cooking on the sheet after removal, so avoid overbaking
